Odds on the Super-Fight!

"Manny Pacquiao may be more popular, but no boxer makes more on fight night than the self promoted and self promoting Floyd Mayweather, who controls 100 per cent of the purse and pays out the guy he was just punching when it's over."

Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s unique business model: Punch him, then pay him

Muhammad Rasheed - If both Pacquiao and Mayweather were "managed talent" under the old system, where the suits behind the scenes get the lion's share of the profits generated, I would be willing to agree to a 50/50 split. But Mayweather is the one wearing the suit AND in the ring, and the 50/50 doesn't make any sense in this new scenario. Mayweather is the power-player negotiating the deal from both sides of the table. There's no way Pacquiao should get 50% when he's basically just a contractor that Floyd is hiring for Floyd's event.

Jerry Lee Brice - If I was Pacquiao, i would not make the fight unless i was 50/50 on everything, including promoting the fight and owning the rights to the fight/ppv, etc...or forget about it.

Muhammad Rasheed - I think Floyd has already proven that he's not interested in moving forward on a project unless it's on his financial terms. Since he's already the highest paid athlete in the world, the slight would be on Manny if he skipped this deal, not Floyd.

Jerry Lee Brice - No, it would be on the person that is asking for a deal that is unreasonable.
As they say, you can not reason with the unreasonable, so if a 50/50 split all the way down the line and shared promotion is not something he can live with, then the business does not work out.
No reason at all to take a losers deal.

Muhammad Rasheed - Jerry Lee Brice wrote: "No, it would be on the person that is asking for a deal that is unreasonable."

Well, in every single interview Manny is calling Floyd out. He's the one that sounds like he desperately needs the pay day. He should've kept his poker face.

From what I understand, Manny has already taken it. The 2-fight contract is a go. On Floyd's terms as usual.

Jerry Lee Brice - That news!LOL...so makes all this talk about Manny not wanting to fight moot.
Now all they have to do is fight.

Muhammad Rasheed - Also, since Manny lost 2 of his last 5 fights (1 by KO), his drawing power has diminished a bit (and the Vegas odds), so it's no secret where the source of this new desperation is coming from.

Muhammad Rasheed - Yes, they are scheduling both fights for 2015.

Jerry Lee Brice - If he made a deal with floyd, he made a deal. That's business, the past is just negotiation, you need to take emotions out of it, business is business, sounds like thats what happened...now, all they have to do is fight.

Muhammad Rasheed - What emotions?

Jerry Lee Brice - ...now on to the fight!LOl...

Jerry Lee Brice - All that BS narrative about manny being desperate blah blah blah...etc whoever's on top???whatever...they negotiated, made a deal, now we ALL get to see a fight.
maybe two fights..end of story.

I'm betting big on this one!

Muhammad Rasheed - I think the talk about who was being unreasonable or not was where the emotion came in. In the art of negotiation, the parties aren't always starting at equal footing. It is definitely true in this case. A few years ago, before those two loses, Manny was somehow under the impression that the two fighters were approaching the table as equals... naturally Floyd balked at that foolishness, and set terms that clearly disturbed Manny and his camp. Two losses later, and after about 100 interviews calling Floyd out (and enough time to flush that bullshit out of his system lol), now Manny has seen reality and approached the negotiation table at his proper level.

As a for-hire contractor.

Muhammad Rasheed - Now I'm looking forward to him getting hook-checked and cracking his dome on a turn-buckle like Hatton did.

Jerry Lee Brice - LOL..sounds like you are writing one of your stories man...all I know is that two parties comcerned with money and business negotiated and made a meeting of the minds...motivated to make more money, period.
I guess Floyd is not concerned about drug testing anymore!LOl...c'mon man, i know you his fan/stan and all, but all they did was do business for business sake. The meeting of the minds means they both won in that aspect of the deal.

NOW-all the other BS and whatnot can be settled in the ring.

That's all that matters...

Muhammad Rasheed - Jerry Lee Brice wrote: "LOL..sounds like you are writing one of your stories man"

That's what I thought about you when you typed "emotions." lol

Muhammad Rasheed - Calm down, Jerry.

Muhammad Rasheed - I know these posts that don't immediately praise Manny get under your skin.

Muhammad Rasheed - You'll be alright. And you'll both eventually recover after these butt whoopin's Floyd gives out.

Muhammad Rasheed - :D

Jerry Lee Brice - You the one who keeps projecting what's on somebody's mind outside of business, like you know what's on another man's mind?!?!what's left?Emotions???which is not business.
All that stuff in the past was a negotiation motivated to make more money for both party's -period.

Jerry Lee Brice - LOL...I guess you must think you can see the future...all i do with people like you is make a bet.

It's that simple.

Jerry Lee Brice -  ..the bet saves a lot of time and talk.

Muhammad Rasheed - Jerry Lee Brice wrote: "All that stuff in the past was a negotiation motivated to make more money for both party's -period."

That's certainly what it is for Floyd. For Manny, he's the one at the lower end of the negotiating spectrum, and of course, has been acting like he was.

Especially after those two losses when his stock dropped.

Jerry Lee Brice - LOL..see man, you ACTUALLY talk like you can read Manny's mind?!/!??...craziness.

Muhammad Rasheed - Jerry Lee Brice wrote: "..the bet saves a lot of time and talk."

That's cute, but as you know, I have a lot of time for talking.

If I was single I might take the bet.

Jerry Lee Brice - That's called projecting man...

Jerry Lee Brice - You got time to work that out at the pad..that's called a negotiation...she will let you waste some of that lunch money man!LOl..negotiate...you got a few months to make that happen!LOl..

Jerry Lee Brice -  ..plus, if it's such a sure thing for your fighter Floyd..where is the risk? It's only a bet if there is a risk of losing.

Jerry Lee Brice - ..we can set a $1.00 limit, and somebody has to wear the winning fighters logo t shirt maybe?!?!

Muhammad Rasheed -  Jerry Lee Brice wrote: "LOL..see man, you ACTUALLY talk like you can read Manny's mind?!/!??...craziness."

It's called reading a person's obviously telegraphed, and somewhat clumsy, actions. Perhaps it can come across as mind reading. lol

Similar to how you got all IMMEDIATELY hot under the collar when you saw this post.

Jerry Lee Brice - Read me when you can talk to me about putting your money where you mouth is on this one for the MONEY TEAM..it's called prize fighting, not fortunetelling..

Muhammad Rasheed  - Jerry Lee Brice wrote: "You got time to work that out at the pad..that's called a negotiation...she will let you waste some of that lunch money..."

This is called "projecting into my household."

hahahaha

Jerry Lee Brice - LOL!...

Muhammad Rasheed - Jerry Lee Brice wrote: "Read me when you can talk to me about putting your money where you mouth is.."

Nah. Peer pressure doesn't work on me. I'm good.

Jerry Lee Brice - You right man!LOl..instigating ish.

Muhammad Rasheed - See ya on fight night though!

Muhammad Rasheed - Woop Woop!

Jerry Lee Brice - Ok man..I got it...months worth of BS...either way, glad we get to see a fight.

Muhammad Rasheed - I know I'm excited...

Jerry Lee Brice - I hope they are not too old to entertain...I guess it had to be this way.I'm having a big party that night for sure!

Muhammad Rasheed - I know you are. You may wish to hire security for all the folk that *might* owe you money afterwards.

Muhammad Rasheed - *MIGHT*

Muhammad Rasheed  - ('tis doubtful though)

Jerry Lee Brice - They know me, so they know they better show up with some back up...you got to pay to play.

Muhammad Rasheed - hahahahahaha
