Battle Mode - Testing the Mettle of the anti-Oprah Ideology

Grey Williamson - I made a post earlier about how Oprah Winfrey has jumped on the bandwagon now that speaking on issues of violence against Black men have become popular. It is an entirely obvious statement. No one is more famous in the media for capitalizing on the demonization of Black men. Some time ago there were public outcries against it to the point that she had a show with a comedian addressing it in an attempt to dispell it with humor, before she lost her Black female audience as well.Oprah Winfrey has done thousands of shows.Their content speaks for itself. For pointing this out I was attacked and insulted. I expect this.It is only the truthful addressing of history that educates us, and allows us to gain the wisdom necessary to evolve. Some of our own history includes terrible mistakes that come from the programmed and indoctrinated slave mindset. It is time to take responsibility for what we have become through our own choices... and allow others to do so as well... even if it is inconvenient to our personal agendas.Maybe it is time to examine those "agendas", and redirect our focus on achieving a more wholistic success.Stop chasing demons.Young boys and girls are being killed because we are too afraid to take responsibility for what we have perpetuated in society.Stop going along with the culture of lies and deceit. You have supported and empowered your enemies to murder your children. If you want to demonize me for telling the truth about people who have damaged the perception of Black men in the eyes of the world, so be it. But in doing so you become my enemy, and the enemy of my brothers and sisters... and those who are at peace with the idea of us taking our corrected position in the world. I do my best to represent them.Make your choice.

I remember such a post, and disagree with it now as I did then. Why do you assume she has never addressed issues important to our communities when you have never watched her show? In your previous post (Why Didn't Oprah Use Her Show To Educate Her Audience On the Black Experience?) someone posted a clip of an episode in which she addressed police brutality, which flew in the face of your primary contention. You conspicuously chose to ignore it in favor of your preferred stance to slander Oprah. Why?

Grey Williamson wrote: “It is an entirely obvious statement. No one is more famous in the media for capitalizing on the demonization of Black men.”

A VERY serious charge from someone who lacks facts to back this claim, and whose statement is “obvious” only inside of his own self-reinforcing ideology.

Grey Williamson wrote: “Some time ago there were public outcries against it…”

That were based on WHAT? Feelings and wishes?

Grey Williamson wrote: “…to the point that she had a show with a comedian addressing it in an attempt to dispell it with humor, before she lost her Black female audience as well.”

I know quite a few black females who never stopped watching it, and are genuinely curious as to what you are talking about.

Grey Williamson wrote: “Oprah Winfrey has done thousands of shows. Their content speaks for itself.”

Indeed. But how would YOU know?

Grey Williamson wrote: “For pointing this out I was attacked and insulted. I expect this.”

lol For “pointing this out” the spotlight was shown upon this fact-devoid emotional rant of yours.

Grey Williamson wrote: “It is only the truthful addressing of history that educates us, and allows us to gain the wisdom necessary to evolve.”

“Truth” possesses facts to back it up with, Grey. Throw down your rod. Present the proofs of your claims that we may analyze them together.

Grey Williamson wrote: “Some of our own history includes terrible mistakes that come from the programmed and indoctrinated slave mindset.”

Indeed. Take up my challenge and you will find that truth stands out clear from error. Just who between the two of us possesses the slave mindset or not will be revealed by how the each of us responds to that truth. Are you game?

Grey Williamson wrote: “It is time to take responsibility for what we have become through our own choices... and allow others to do so as well... even if it is inconvenient to our personal agendas.”

I agree wholeheartedly.

Throw down your rod!

Grey Williamson wrote: “Maybe it is time to examine those "agendas", and redirect our focus on achieving a more wholistic success.”

I strongly suspect such an effort will reveal “agendas” in areas you didn’t expect, and very well may hurt your feelings.

Grey Williamson wrote: “Stop chasing demons.”

Stop demonizing your people over false doctrines.

Grey Williamson wrote: “Young boys and girls are being killed because we are too afraid to take responsibility for what we have perpetuated in society.”

Tell me how does demonizing Oprah based on a faulty premise, and even faultier logic, will solve this problem? Because from here it seems as if you have taken on the role of “Bain” from Lee’s Malcolm X movie.

Grey Williamson wrote: “Stop going along with the culture of lies and deceit.”

Again, I agree wholeheartedly. Such a stance does you little credit.

Grey Williamson wrote: “You have supported and empowered your enemies to murder your children.”

1.) Oprah’s show has a positive message
2.) Grey has never watched the show
3.) Grey has the opinion that the show demonizes black men based on his feelings, blind faith & wishing
4.) MRasheed points out that Grey never watched the show and asks for the proof of his claims
5.) Grey doubles down on his feelings, blind faith & wishing

Grey Williamson wrote: “If you want to demonize me…”

I don’t want to demonize you at all. I want to demonize an ignorant and divisive ideology that serves no purpose outside of our mutual enemy’s schemes that my people can do without.

Grey Williamson wrote: “…for telling the truth about people who have damaged the perception of Black men in the eyes of the world …”

Throw down your rod, O Grey! Provide proofs of your claims if ye are truthful! I will also provide my proofs, and we will see together which devours the other as a falsehood!

Grey Williamson wrote: “…so be it. But in doing so you become my enemy, and the enemy of my brothers and sisters... and those who are at peace with the idea of us taking our corrected position in the world. I do my best to represent them.”

You should try harder. Taking up the mantle of a false cause that exists only within your own mind is no representation at all. You battle only illusion, and dance like a puppet upon the strings of our mutual enemy. Will you finally cut those strings and begin to walk along the path that you currently only pretend to?

Grey Williamson wrote: “Make your choice.”

My choice is made; my own gauntlet cast down. Will you accept my challenge or choose to continue with your emotional rhetoric? Either way I’m good.

Meanwhile, he and his cronies are the ones gossiping against black thought leaders like Oprah based on raw ignorance and their feelings -- not a single thing he spewed against her was true -- but I'm the one that's the problem.
