CITATION
Rasheed, Muhammad. "A Foreign Judgment of Righteous Justice." Cartoon.
The Official Website of Cartoonist M. Rasheed 03 Apr 2020. Pen & ink w/Adobe Photoshop color.
Muhammad Rasheed - Why are foreign whites so bitterly, passionately against the reparations owed to the black American descendants of slavery when they are always unaware of the library of anti-racism scholarship that reasonably justifies it?
Joe Rich - "I don't like Trump so he owes me reparations!"
This is the same thing has this slavery reparations thing.
Maybe if there was slaves still alive from those horrible days, their kids. Not 150 years later when the country has gotten over that war and moved on.
It's really an insult to those millions of Americans that worked hard to fit in as normal, full class citizens. It's an insult to people like Rosa Parks, and Dr. King.
Today it ust appears to be the latest trick to buy black votes.
Muhammad Rasheed - Here…
From Here to Equality: Reparations for Black Americans in the Twenty-First Century by Darity, William A. & Mullen, A. KirstenJoe Rich - You can justify anything if you want. But the reasons in this book do not support the reality that I have seen. If a person wants to advance out of poverty, the race has little too with it. Hard work does.
If a person wants an education, there are more programs for blacks than any other group.
In 40 years of federal service, I did not see one case where a person was held back because of race, except white males.
If people would stop and obey the police, there would be fewer police shootings. That is for all races.
The sooner we put this racism excuse behind us and get on with everyday living, without excuses, the better we all will be.
Muhammad Rasheed - Read the book first, then come back to discuss. How I feel about your uninformed opinion regarding the 400 yr long racist abuses of my ethnic group should be apparent in the question you were kind enough to answer. Read the book first and make your opinion actually worth reading.
Racism cannot be put behind us until I get my Reparations and the artificially widened racial wealth gap—first widened by the chattel slave institution—is finally closed.
Joe Rich - I understand your position. But throwing more money at this problem is not the answer. If you know a way we can go back and change history, then there is something to talk about. I guess you know about how the Irish were treated. Blacks are not the only ones that had it rough.
The blacks I know did not let this thing stop them. They went on and are living the American dream. What is the difference between them and you are what we need to ask?
Muhammad Rasheed - Joe wrote:
“I understand your position. But throwing more money at this problem is not the answer.”Then you don’t understand my position at all and you need to read up on the subject so you can understand. The entire point of anti-Black systemic racism is economic, since the obscene great wealth of the USA came directly from the insanely lucrative chattel slave economy and the further exploitation and legal discriminatory practices of the last 150 yrs that followed it. Right now you only think you know what you are talking about and it isn’t enough. Learn the subject and then if you still insist upon retaining your current opinion, then we can have that heated argument and walk it down to its logical conclusion. But right now, your hollow and uninformed rhetoric is unworthy of a serious discussion.
Go get smart first, please.
Joe Rich - I will get the book. I just wonder if 40 years of life will change my mind. But I can change if there is a reason. Right now it just looks like another trick to get money from the government.
Muhammad Rasheed - Knowledge filling a hole full of misconception, explicit & implicit biases and anecdotal logical fallacies often changes open minds, bud. Start filling it up and we’ll see together if you hold that type of mind.
Meet me back here when you’re ready. In the meantime: Peace.
