ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION
This #MRasheedCartoons image was inspired by some goober white racist troll who keeps copy/paste dumping a super-vulgar rant against Black Americans and Islam while proudly sporting the classic Knights Templar flag as his social media identifier. Yeah, the Templars were Muslims and the church suspected for a while and they eventually grabbed a bunch of their higher ranks guys and formally ended the legendary order in that special way only the European Church of the crusader period could do it (yikes).
The surviving knights would go into hiding, passing on their lore to spiritual descendants who would eventually form the Order of the Rose Cross, Freemasons, etc. Most interesting to me was the fact that the original knights of the round table quest for the Holy Grail was actually an allegory for the Knights Templar real quest to find the holy Ark of the Covenant.
