ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION
This #MRasheedCartoons image was inspired by a conference call my wife included me on with her, her old college girlfriend and her son. My wife and her friend are Christian, and the son has become enamored with the doctrine of the Hebrew Israelites and argued on their behalf. It stood out to me how he would casually dismiss the miracle of Jesus’ miraculous conception without an earthly father in favor of his strict bloodline nationality doctrine, and how the two Christian women never tried to argue in defense of the miracle which was obviously significant. This forced me for the first time in my own studies to narrow in my own focus on what that particular miracle meant to the extremely patriarchal traditions of the children of Israel – how the Qur’an confirmed this particular miracle numerous times, but never once confirmed the idea of the twelve tribes returning to rule over the world.
