CITATION
Rasheed, Muhammad. "The Slut Loophole." Cartoon. The Official Website of Cartoonist M. Rasheed 23 May 2020. Pen & ink w/Adobe Photoshop color.

M.A.B.I.A. - If “all men cheat” then isn’t that proof that it is in a mans nature to have more than one woman? And if this is so, then Allah says since this is how I’ve created man, I’ve given him the righteous outlet to that, and that is having up to four wives. Provided you have the resourc

Muhammad Rasheed - Allah said it is not in the male's nature to be able to treat more than one woman fairly so that it's best to have only one wife. Allah said to guide your life according to what is best in the Qur'an, i.e., just one wife.

M.A.B.I.A. - This could be true for some. But also Allah is not trivial. He mentions marrying two first then finished off with one. The best would be to have at least two if you are able. But Allah is telling us many won’t be able. So if you know you can’t then choose one.

Muhammad Rasheed - Allah said point blank that it would be best to only have one. It is out of line for the believer to claim it is also best to have two when Allah made it unambiguously clear what is actually best.

Allah said that when He and the messenger said something, that it wasn't for the believers to act like they had options outside of what was commanded. Allah said that one wife is best. Full stop. Two, three and four wives are *NOT* the best course although permitted.

Obviously choosing two, three or four wives would NOT be the best course, so what would be the justification to choose the least situation that isn't best? Note that Allah said we are not to follow our lusts on this matter.

M.A.B.I.A. - Doesn’t the verse say marry only one OR what your right hand possesses? It’s still going back to at least two. And then Allah says that is best. So if a man had a wife and a right hand possession he was doing what was best. And that was having two women.

Muhammad Rasheed - "What your right hand possesses" is a slave. Since Muslims are not in the business of slave taking, that is not an option, which means we are left with the wife discussion.

Note that Allah point blank said one wife was best and that we are NOT to be driven by our lusts on this.

Muhammad Rasheed - So if we are following what is BEST in the Qur'an as the believers are so commanded by Allah (only one wife; not driven by lusts in decision making), then what possible justification is there to have more than one wife?

Tell me.

M.A.B.I.A. - The main companions of the Prophet all had more than one wife. If it weren’t the best, then they wouldn’t do it. Cuz they only did the best.

Muhammad Rasheed - They also already had those wives when the verses were revealed from what was already established as normal in that culture. But we have the benefit of being in a situation where we can be guided by what is best from the jump. Will ye not be wise?

M.A.B.I.A. - Because there are more women in the world than men. And the prophet told us in the last days that ratio would get even grander. Those men who have produced to a high level are those who should indeed take on more righteous women to provide for, guide and protect.

Muhammad Rasheed - There were more women than men in those days, too, and Allah STILL said it was BEST to only have one wife. Only Allah knows when the lasts days will be.

Allah said that it is best to only have one wife. It is clear that the rest is but a trial for those guided by their lusts.

M.A.B.I.A. - Sir there is nothing wrong with lust if it is given to its proper channels. One of the reasons you get married is so that you can satisfy your lust via halal means

Muhammad Rasheed - Allah, Master of the Day of Judgment said it is best to have only one wife and to NOT be driven by your lusts when making these decisions on this particular topic.

One wife is proper channel enough.

M.A.B.I.A. - Brother we will not see eye to eye on this. I believe that it is in mans nature to desire more than one woman and Allah gave you the proper channels to do that. And that that would be best for you. Even in Paradise Allah will give each Muslim two hour al ayn.

Muhammad Rasheed - I'm only reminding you of what you just read this month in your thirtieth parts. If you don't want to see eye-to-eye on it then what can that mean other than you insisting on following your lusts in defiance of your Lord's commands?

Muhammad Rasheed - Literally every lustful thing man can conjure is in his nature, that's why Allah gifted you with His religion so you may tame your nature and save your soul from the Pit.

Muhammad Rasheed - Allah said that one wife was best and He is the one who made you and knows your limitations, therefore, one wife is more than adequate for your channels.

Muhammad Rasheed - Show me the verse where Allah said each Muslim will receive "two hour al ayn," please.

M.A.B.I.A. - Surah 52:20 and we also have the Hadith as well

Muhammad Rasheed - Is it your honest opinion that the memory of this Sa'eed al-Khudri is more trustworthy than the direct command of the One God, Supreme Creator of reality and Master of the Day of Judgment? Answer carefully.

Muhammad Rasheed -

Where does it say each Muslim will get two...?

M.A.B.I.A. - I believe in the trust worthy ness of those companions who followed the prophet and passed down these Hadith to these scholars who study and understand the science of chain of narration. And can classify Hadith. But also that is how we have the Quran. Passed on.

Muhammad Rasheed - Do you believe that the opinions/memories of these mere humans were MORE trustworthy than Allah who gave you a direct command within the Holy Qur'an revealed to guide you aright?

M.A.B.I.A. - Companions, or wives. Plural. That means more than one. As well as the Hadith I showed you which backs up those words. That the lowest of them will have two.

Muhammad Rasheed - No. Allah was referring to the collective Companions of the Garden, not saying one believer would get 'companions' plural.

Do you see now what it looks like when your decisions are guided by your lusts and not your logic/reason?

This here is why Allah said not to do it.

Muhammad Rasheed - "THEY will recline with ease..." not "HE will recline with ease..."

Where is your reason? Hiding behind your lusts that do not serve you in a debate.

M.A.B.I.A. - Is it a sin to have more than one wife?

Muhammad Rasheed - It is a sin to defy the commands of the One who made you.

M.A.B.I.A. - But is it specifically a sin to marry more than one woman?

Muhammad Rasheed - It is a sin to do so if quenching your lusts is your justification for choosing other than what is best.

M.A.B.I.A. - You not answering the question which let me know the answer is no. It’s not a sin. Is it a sin to have lust for your wives?

Muhammad Rasheed - I did answer the question; it is your lusts blocking you from seeing it.
  • PERMITTED: up to four wives
  • NOT PERMITTED: marrying more than one for lust
M.A.B.I.A. - Have a nice night brother

Muhammad Rasheed - You, too. Peace.

Muhammad Rasheed -

The One God doesn’t think the majority of men are able to meet His narrow stipulations. Up to four wives are allowed only if caring for fatherless orphans is the goal and we are not guided by our lusts in the matter. God said that despite the financial difficulties the women and their children may be going through, it is STILL best if the community’s men marry only one wife, implying that it is best that these women put their faith in Allah rather than look to some man to ‘save’ them, who will probably — seeing women as prey in most modern societies — only bring difficulty to them instead of help.
