Collect Them All!!!

I've been thinking of creating a line of trading cards based on my Monsters 101 graphic novel series. I think it'll be fun.

An Exercise in Tact...

My little brother told Namor, the Avenging Son and Submariner of the Deep, that he thought "ankle wings" were stupid. His words, not mine.

Impossible? Let's Test It...

After seeing the movie HANCOCK, my friend Jeremy expressed doubt that someone would actually be able to continue standing after having someone's head rammed up their bum. Hancock himself was in the neighborhood, and with my little brother's assistance, helped Jeremy test his hypothesis for truth and accuracy...

Favorite Character #7: CHIUN

Name: Chiun

Property: Ongoing paperback novel series; ten-title cartoon graphic novel series

Genre: Men's Adventure

Created by: Warren Murphy & Richard Sapir

Character Background/Synopsis: His name is Chiun, and he is the Master of Sinanju. Sinanju is not only the tiny, isolated fishing village in the West Korean Bay that Chiun calls home and is the guardian ruler over, but it is also the name of the sun-source of the martial arts invented by the master's distant ancestor and passed on faithfully from father to son. Gaining power and force continuously with each succeeding generation for the last five thousand years, the Art of Sinanju is currently a super combat form, bestowing upon its practitioners vast super powers and abilities.

What makes him/her cool: Because he is the master of the Art of Sinanju, Chiun is literally the deadliest man alive, able to move as silent as a falling hair and known to decapitate a room full of armed warriors almost casually. But what really makes him fun are his impossible to figure out personal quirks and idiosyncrasies which, together with with his maniacal temper and belief that everyone in the world was born to bother the sh*t out of him, makes for some hilarious but frightening moments.

Favorite Character #6: GROO

Name: Groo the Wanderer

Property: Comic book series

Genre: Sword & Sorcery/comedy

Created by: Sergio Aragones

Character Background/Synopsis: Groo is an extra-stupid-with-cheese warrior barbarian who is SO stupid and destructive he's like a mini force of nature in the primitive, pre-historic world that Sergio has created.

What makes him/her cool: In addition to being rip-roaring fun and hilarious, Groo is as deadly in combat as he is stupid. He usually destroys entire armies all by himself with his two swords alone... that's how stupid he is.

Favorite Character #5: CHUN the UNAVOIDABLE

Name: Chun the Unavoidable

Property: Novel

Genre: Science-Fantasy/horror

Created by: Jack Vance

Character Background/Synopsis: When the mendicant rogue Lianne the Wayfarer discovered a beautiful witch, with golden eyes that matched his own, alone in a little cabin in a picturesque meadow, he immediately tried to take her to quench his lusts. With 20 flying blades of death that obeyed her every command, the witch wasn't having it, but she told him that if he retrieved the other half of a gorgeously-detailed golden tapestry from the villain Chun the Unavoidable, he could have her as he liked. Lianne immediately agreed and set forth on the quest. But Chun the Unavoidable was a horrible monster that slew all would-be champions and attached their eyeballs to his cloak. No one who had caught a glimpse of the beast had ever lived to give a description. Lianne would fair no better on his quest than anyone else, and that night, Chun appeared at the doorstep of the witch. He praised the quality of the latest pair of eyes she had sent his way, and gave her two golden threads for her tapestry instead of the usual one. Carefully sewing them into her half, she promised the beloved city the tapestry depicted that she would be home soon.

What makes him/her cool: Chun was frightening beyond belief and demanded that I at least attempt to string together the vague hints of his appearance into an image.
