Freeman Grey – [MEME] Barack Obama – August 4, 1961 – Happy Birthday
Happy birthday to the greatest modern day president of all
time. The others pale in comparison to your intelligence, compassion, empathy
and passion. Roll Tide !!!!!
JWilliam Cruse -
Muhammad Rasheed - What made him a great president?
Freeman Grey - @Muhammad… the question brother is what didn't
compared to the legacies of Bill Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, Ford, both
Bushes, Trump and Biden ??
Muhammad Rasheed - So, you ducked my question to play a WhatAboutism fallacy instead. smh
Let's look at the facts, "brother."
• Obama's attempt to reform healthcare insurance failed because he wasn't allowed to touch The McCarran-Ferguson Act, which is the notorious robber baron era law that protects corporate monopoly over that industry. Consequently, his signature 'ObamaCare' initiative didn't do what they projected it to do during his campaigns and were forced to put all their energy on the marketing/indoctrination side.
• Obama's Small Business Administration (SBA) gave out fewer loans to Black Americans (ADOS) than any other president, since you want to compare those goons.
• ADOS as a group were poorer after Obama's 8-years than we were after George W. Bush's 8-years. A big part of this is due to the fact that the predators responsible for the Great Recession mortgage crisis primarily targeted ADOS boomer assets—so my people ate it more than any other group. Obama was well aware of this, and did nothing to help us, even though he pointedly patronized us in order to get our vote.
• All presidents had urban "opportunity zone" programs that enabled white wealth to gentrify ADOS neighborhoods and kick us poor out of our homes. Obama's was called "The Promise Zone Initiative."
• Obama repurposed the original Black-focused "Black Lives Matter" proposal presented to him by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi into a front organization that exploited Black male trauma to raise funds for feminist and LBGT agendas for his new pro-Gay Rights campaign.
• Obama cheated and re-labeled Uber gig economy hustles as "full employment" to artificially lower the unemployment numbers. He did this right at the end of his 2nd-term in order to give Hillary Clinton a big approval boost when she took office. Of course, his unscrupulous plan failed, and Trump claimed the fake lowered unemployment numbers for his own administration, leaving Obama standing there looking stupid.
• I don't know about this "compassion, empathy" you claim Obama was supposed to have. Every time he addressed my ADOS group, he patronized and mocked us, and called us "Pookie." Based on his record, Obama was as much an anti-ADOS asshole as David Duke. He had several high-profile meetings with Ta-Nehisi Coates where he pretended to flirt with the idea of giving us our Reparations, but in the end allowed VP Joe Biden to sway him into not giving us sh*t, assuming he really did plan to at least make an Executive Order for it.
Jocelyn Psikla - @Muhammad...
Affordable Care Act (ACA) This landmark legislation aimed to make healthcare more affordable and accessible by expanding insurance coverage through the creation of health insurance marketplaces and allowing young adults to remain on their parents' plans.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, a stimulus package, was enacted to counter the effects of the Great Recession, focusing on infrastructure, education, and renewable energy. The Dodd-Frank Act was also passed to reform the financial system and prevent future crises.
Ending of the Iraq War, Obama fulfilled a campaign promise by withdrawing all US troops from Iraq.
Killing of Osama bin Laden: In a major foreign policy success, Obama authorized the raid that resulted in the death of the al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden.
Nuclear Arms Reduction, The New START treaty with Russia reduced nuclear weapons stockpiles.
Other notable achievements:
Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010, which ended the ban on openly gay people serving in the military, and he also appointed the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor.
Muhammad Rasheed - @Jocelyn... Why are you tagging me in this?
Jocelyn Psikla - you asked why he was a great President. These are some notable accomplishments. 😊 The ACA bringing healthcare to 49.4 million as of 2024 is pretty spectacular in my humble opinion.
Muhammad Rasheed - Jocelyn wrote: "you asked why he was a great President."
I remember. Relevancy?

Your explanations had clear media spin-verbiage to several of them. Even if they didn't, how does these bullets qualify his presidency as objectively "great?" Especially relevant considering he actually hurt the long-abused Black American descendants of slavery he pandered to for our vote and gave him his 2-terms. That's an objective failure.

Far from the comprehensive healthcare reform he initially promised, that he had to pivot away from when he discovered how impenetrable The McCarran-Ferguson Act turned out to be, the consolation prize he forced on businesses was full of holes, poorly developed due to both the rush and pushback from insurance monopolist giants, it also doesn't objectively count as "great." The initial effort was admirable, but the pivot demonstrated cowardice and an unwillingness to do the work beyond a partisan divide.
