ADOS Advocacy Foundation - 🇺🇸 Happy Black History Month! Here are three takeaways from the Kendrick’s halftime show.
Mike Drake - It's just strange that black folks took such a long time to come around to Trump ? Democrats forced you through legislation to live in poverty. To live with terrible education. America is a pretty simple place the more you contribute to the benefit of the country the more Pride you have in it regardless of what anybody else has ! No the government may not always like you and there are plenty of people in the world no matter what color they are you should steer clear of ? Take pride in your home you have as much rights to it and obligation to it has anyone else
Muhammad Rasheed - @Mike... ADOS is not a pro-Trump/pro-GOP movement. Why are you here spreading misinformation?
Mike Drake - @Muhammad... I have a different stake in the game much more serious than Trump my family helps start this country. Tread lightly and have a good day sir
Muhammad Rasheed - lol My family helped start the country, built it and kept it on track to even becoming a country during its darkest days. You can tread lightly and be less enthusiastic about spreading misinformation. Thanks.
Raymond Brown - @Muhammad... That’s what they do!!
Andrea Carter - @Mike... Trump had nothing to do with the artistic messaging. Have you been under a rock this past year to not know about the message Kendrick was sending Drake and all global siphoned who flatten Black culture? There are young GenZ Black Brits on TikTok who have recently been getting skewered by their overreach in not knowing they think they are us and don't know that we are not flat with them running us. It had to be done: the message. And even on a micro level, it was about Black Americans descended of US Chattel slavery who grew up in that area of Los Angeles. Not Georgia, not NY, not Hawaii. While we cousins around the country took pride, we knew even on the micro level we are not them. But he let thst slide because we are kinfolk who can also have their backs to anthem "not like us". This isn't a song Black Canadians, those from Africa, or the Caribbean can gesture to us because we don't want to be like them. So, none of the show is/was about the Trump Effect. It was bound to play out this artistry no matter who won the election. This was a long overdue missive to Black interlocuters to stop it.
Mike Drake - @Andrea... black Americans need to respect they are Americans you were put in cages in Africa by your black brothers and sisters when you continued to war against them and lost ! You were then sold to the Dutch East India Company and brought to the United States. Half my family killed the other half of my family for the dream of freedom. Not because anybody had any notion of freedom for black folks in the world at the time. And if they didn't if the United States didn't do that whether you like it or not whether that's fair or not to say you would still be living in dung Huts in Africa there are still people doing that ! You don't have to respect me or the president learn to respect yourself. Respect a debt that you can never pay back to this country and the citizens that died for you not one minute of it 600,000 ! Don't give me a minute of blah blah blah it was so horrible of course it was it was bad for the Irish it was bad for f****** everyone except for an elite few members of the world it's still the same problem ! You like the idea of division because it makes you look special or gives you some form of power or Equity but it's a joke. And no I don't watch football since they've been taking a knee but from what I hear so was Kendrick Lamar's performance a joke
Annette Wilcox - Mike... Our history predates Trump by centuries. Unfortunately rappers have always been fascinated with his gilded BS since the 80s. Unfortunately, Blacks who voted for him (and everyone else) will learn the hard way that all that’s shiny isn’t gold. Trump‘s number one interest is himself and mark my word he will sell Black people down the river faster than Andrew Johnson.
Dams have given lip service to black issues for the last 30 years, but Republicans haven’t given anything. It’s always been a choice in the US between the good cop bad cop.
Muhammad Rasheed - Mike wrote: "black Americans need to respect they are Americans"
The American Descendants of Slavery respect our country that we built, and our own hefty & unique contributions to her culture, more than anyone. We're the only American citizens who don't have another national flag to wave—the USA is the only country we know.
Mike wrote: "put in cages in Africa by your black brothers and sisters"
That line is ignorant. Our ancestors were captured by ethnic enemies that didn't even speak our people's language.
Mike wrote: "Half my family killed the other half of my family for the dream of freedom. Not because anybody had any notion of freedom for black folks in the world at the time"
More ignorance. The Confederates tried to expand the American cotton planter enterprise farther South, and the president refused. So they waged war. The Union soldiers were losing until the president allowed my enslaved ancestors to fight in exchange for our freedom—that's how the war was ultimately won.
Mike wrote: "Respect a debt that you can never pay back to this country and the citizens that died for you not one minute of it 600,000 !"
Yet MORE ignorance. Your ancestors fought in the Civil War as paid soldiers with benefits to keep the nation together. That's why you fought. My people fought for the promise of freedom from the shackles. The US government owes my people Reparations for both the 230-years of chattel slavery, and the next 150-years of domestic terror and discrimination up to the present day. We don't owe you anything. In fact, members of your clan were still receiving Civil War era pensions just until the last 20-years or so.
Mike wrote: "you would still be living in dung Huts in Africa"
Africa looks the way it does right now because the European Imperialists destroyed it over the last 500-years to turn it into their personal playground and reap the resources without having to pay sovereign nations market prices.
Mike wrote: "You don't have to respect me or the president learn to respect yourself."
You're lecturing from a position of hostile, biased ignorance. Advocating for myself and my own people in our own country IS an act of self-respect, doofus.
Mike wrote: "it was it was bad for the Irish"
This is a myth. The Irish took part in the American slave institution and were enriched from it. They themselves were never slaves, but paid indentured servants.
Mike wrote: "it was bad for f****** everyone"
It was worse for us. We were slaves and we had to legally put up with your savage barbarity with no one to advocate for us.
Mike wrote: "except for an elite few members of the world it's still the same problem !"
An elite few that YOU currently support and demand they give you privilege over my people—the same as back then. smh
Mike wrote: "You like the idea of division"
You created the division, both the wealthy among you and your poor. YOU created the racial division in the nation by enforcing my enslavement and the later jim crow laws. YOU like the idea of division because you are the only one who actually benefitted from it. What the f*ck are you talking about?
Mike wrote: "because it makes you look special or gives you some form of power"
That's literally the reason YOU created the nation's racial division so you could be the "white" privileged class, you hypocritical idiot.
Mike wrote: "And no I don't watch football"
Why did you go out of your way to post your ignorant tripe in these comments?
Mike wrote: "since they've been taking a knee"
You agree with police brutality and the broken criminal justice system then?
Mike wrote: "but from what I hear"
From whom?
Mike wrote: "so was Kendrick Lamar's performance a joke"
It was actually great. You're just an anti-Black American racist.
Mike Drake - @Muhammad... I love yall to much not to call you out on bullsh!t ! But I don't try to hate anyone. All I wisj for yall is your best and maybe more ! Look there is always love there. Sometimes we need to call each other out ? But not because we wish each other the evils of the world! Because eventually we are supposed to be at one table regardless of it being many.
Muhammad Rasheed - Mike wrote: "I love yall to much not to call you out on bullsh!t !"
You don't know enough to discern between bullsh*t and truth. And your white supremacist biases prevent you from caring to fix the deficiency.
Mike wrote: "But I don't try to hate anyone."
Yet, you believe wishing ADOS remained in a permanent subservient state is somehow an expression of "love." You sound like a sociopath.
Mike wrote: "All I wisj for yall is your best"
Our BEST is to be economically included in the open free markets as wealth-building ownership equals with whites, and to be paid what our government owes us for generations of accrued discrimination.
Mike wrote: "Look there is always love there."
Love consists of more than shallow platitudes, Mike.
Mike wrote: "Sometimes we need to call each other out ?"
In order to do that from a position that actually holds value, you need to start with TRUTH—not the fabricated ideologies of our most hated enemies.
Mike wrote: "But not because we wish each other the evils of the world! Because eventually we are supposed to be at one table regardless of it being many."
We don't wish evil on anyone; all we want is to finally be free in our own country and enjoy the benefits & privileges long withheld from us.
